The mobile and video game industry is set to reach the $100 billion mark by 2017 and continues to grow fast. With the introduction of smartphones and more consumer spending on computer games, the games market is an exciting space to be working in.
The team at Phase has built an app to help users schedule games with friends and online opponents across long distances. Sinch got a chance to speak with Ryan Cooke from Phase, to catch up with their development progress.
Ryan explained that when trying to arrange video game nights and events, sending email, SMS, and invites across different networks is just not effective, especially for larger teams. So the team at Phase decided to build a new method to solve this issue.
Their Android app has over 1500 users in only 2 weeks and they are growing fast. Users simply download the app, make a new game or join an existing one, and start planning their next event. Phase sends alerts and makes scheduling easy. Plus, users can chat within the app to keep the whole scheduling process in one place.
Phase originally built their app and then integrated Sinch after finding one of our tutorials on building a messaging app, and our SDK currently powers the main chat feature in the Phase app:
Sinch allows users to chat with everyone invited to their game, so they can coordinate details of what they are playing as well as just chat.
The future looks bright for Phase, who is currently raising angel round funding and is looking to add new features that make finding local games, recommendations, and better game filtering much easier from within the app.
