In today’s constantly connected world, consumer habits have changed. Millennials now turn to their smartphones to do almost anything, from calling a taxi to ordering food—and thanks to NuPad, maybe even buying a home. NuPad, a platform connecting home buyers and renters with real estate agents, wants to make house hunting on mobile easier.
With L.A.-based NuPad, buyers and renters can post a description of their dream home, complete with details like a photo, their credit score, and their budget. Real estate agents and landlords can then scan the network for matches and contact the most promising prospects directly through the app.
To simplify communications, NuPad uses Sinch for in-app messaging. Founder Ema Chuku said the three-person team hopes to integrate video chat in the next few months as well. “We want to make everything as real-time as possible,” said Chuku.
Chuku said he chose Sinch because of the easy iOS SDK integration. “Sinch’s tutorials made implementation much easier are more self-guided,” he said. While there were a few issues getting started, “the support we received from Sinch made us want to stick with it.”
But as anyone in the real estate industry knows, things move fast, and NuPad must keep up. While word about the app is already starting to spread organically, the team is planning marketing initiatives in hopes of penetrating new markets and expanding into new cities, in addition to recruiting more agents.
