Mitto is an instant messaging platform from UK developer Hamzah Malik, focused on a feature rich app for the modern user. Working solo on the project, Hamzah wants to make a rich messaging app targeted at anyone using messaging to connect with friends, family, or colleagues.
“I wanted to add a wide set of features to my app” Hamzah told me, “everything from adding custom fonts and images, to videos. Users can even send drawings and share their location.” By adding more features such as custom fonts, Mitto lets users connect and express themselves more.
The app makes use of the user phone book to contact others on the Mitto platform, and so Hamzah needed to verify user phone numbers. Using Sinch’s SMS Verification features, Mitto sends an SMS PIN code to a new user for them to verify they are in possession of the phone number. Once confirmed, users can start using the messaging platform and start messaging their friends.
There is even an encrypted element to the app to let users send secure messages to each other.
“I picked Sinch because it was easy to use and had good prices” Hamzah told me. This low barrier to entry meant that Mitto could get started with little upfront cost. “I knew that I’d need a verification system so built the main app and then added Sinch into the registration process. It was all pretty smooth.”
Hamzah had some issues with the Swift SDK but managed to solve everything on his own and didn’t need to contact Sinch support.
“Sinch works really well and was easy to integrate. It’s great!”
Hamzah plans to keep adding more features in the next 6-12 months, as well as growing the user base. Currently Mitto is available for iOS and Android.
