For everyone who likes to make social networking a part of their nightlife, Guudtimes could be the app. By posting photos, users can capture and share their golden moments when partying, and with built in GPS functionality, users are able to browse for the “hottest spots or best drink specials” nearby. Plus for nights you might want to forget, the auto delete feature makes even the overenthusiastic party promoters “start fresh again tomorrow”.
I called up Adam Rogas, the development and programming manager of Guudtimes. “What are you doing awake at 2 am?”, I asked him. “Well, it’s a lot easier to get my programming work done at 2 am than it is working during the day”, he replied.
Guudtimes is run by a team of 5, located in Las Vegas, Phoenix and Boston. Adam is the only developer, whereas the others are focusing on promoting and marketing the app. Guudtimes got a great response from users and businesses right away, and has around 10k users already.
I asked Adam about Guudtimes and its mission. “What’s the idea behind it?”
“Guudtimes highlights the social activities of going out to bars or parties. The idea is that if I’m sitting at home on a Friday or a Saturday night, and don’t know where to go, I can basically use the app to see what’s going on at different venues around me, using a map view or searching for an area in town.”
Adam built his app and implemented Sinch simultaneously. Today, the app includes the Sinch SMS User Verification and Venue Verification to validate user and venue phone numbers and create a secure and rich social experience. The team is planning on adding more features from Sinch. “I did not need to contact the Sinch support team for help”, he said. “Honestly, your SMS API is really straight forward”.
The reason they chose Sinch, Adam says, was because of the ease in implementation, the pricing and the possibility of flash calling.
”Sinch is very easy to implement, and it definitely solves the problem! Sinch’s system is more simplistic than other alternatives, and you guys seem like the most straightforward.”
In an excited tone, Adam speaks about how fantastic the utilization of Guudtimes has been. They’ve added a lot of great features, but aren’t changing any part of the core concept, he says. “It’s all about implementation and execution”.
However, the main focus for the future is something for the other team members to take care of: “The next big thing is getting the app back to the marketplace and picking up on that traction.”
I’m looking forward to follow the growth of the app. There are definitely guud times ahead!
