The fantastic team at Sinch have built a new SMS quick start tool to walk you through sending a basic SMS with our SMS API. Just make an account and follow the quick start tutorial to send your first text message in about 50 seconds.
This will work out of the box for those of you on Linux and OS X machines, but Windows users will need some kind of command line tool to get this working.
