This past weekend, we attended an awesome hackathon hosted by ProductHunt, to announce the launch of their new APIs.
ProduckHunt (Duck Hunt + Product Hunt) used Sinch in an extremely novel way, and we awarded them our prize for the weekend. They started with the game Duck Hunt and used the Product Hunt API to make each duck a top post on Product Hunt right now. Shooting the duck gives you points equal to the number of upvotes that post currently has on Product Hunt.
So, how did they incorporate Sinch? ProduckHunt lets you use your smartphone as a “gun” to shoot the ducks on your computer. When you first load the webpage, you are prompted to enter your phone number. Then, you receive a text (sent with Sinch) that has a unique link. Once you click that link, ProduckHunt uses Firebase to sync the tapping on your phone to the shots fired at your computer in real time.
