The 2015 Sinch APPreciate Competition ended with a bang.
Last month, Sinch hosted a competition, with a price of $4000, for all the app developers out there using our SDKs in one way or another. The rules were simple: “Enter your app into the Apple/Google app stores and send us the link!”.
We got some amazing entries! The runner ups were:
Instrans, a free translation app that connects users with available bilingual speakers from anywhere around the world, totally free and without ads. “We are passionate about easing the mind of world travelers who have been struggling language communication occasionally”, the Instrans team says.
Mentored, an app for instant 1:1 tutoring to help user upping their grades and spend less time on homework, by connecting them with qualified mentors in a wide range of subjects. From English to coding, get mentored and “free up more time to have fun”.
Counsel, an unbiased real-time advisory app for any problems or dilemmas one might have. Users can choose to share their wonderings or chat privately, and rewards are given for helping others. The idea is that if you combine the collective wisdom of mankind, you can make better decisions and live better lives. “Counsel is an attempt to bring back that human touch that is slowly disappearing with the integration of more and more technology in our lives.
But as you know, there can only be one winner. The 4K for 2015’s Sinch APPreciate Competition app went to…
“A good application for free calling and SMS. This application is very cool and clear sound. I like this application.” One of the happy users, Google Store
Wasabee is the social app with the witty bee logo, founded by Panos Papadopoulos in early 2015. Wasabee came in response to the acquisition and rapid growth of WhatsApp, which got Pannos’ team thinking about how to build the next social messaging app. Powered by in-app ads, the 2 million+ users can earn credits to send SMS messages across the world via their Android app. “Our team of five started launched the first version of Wasabee in mid-May”. Wasabee has a great pool of happy users across the world, with strong user bases in Southeast Asia, Brazil, India, and Turkey.
Wasabee! Congratulations to the winning team! How did you spend the price money?
“The prize money were actually a perfect fit to our project, so they were instantly utilised on the respective areas, thus providing a gentle push to the whole endeavour.”
