It was a full house at HP this weekend as over 350 developers gathered to participate in the AngelHack Silicon Valley hackathon. We were there as it all happened, and developers, as always, did not disappoint!
There were some amazing hacks built over the 24-hour hackathon. The Sinch $1,000 prize went to Tommy Chan and Gary Lo for their app Cloud Support. The app uses a number of Sinch API’s to connect customers and customer service agents. Agents can quickly reply to support ticket messages sent directly to their phone with Sinch’s SMS feature. Agents can also call customers in urgent cases using Sinch’s in-app calling.
There were some great hacks from other teams too:
AirQuail: Alert locals of unsafe air quality, such as high CO2 levels, with Sinch SMS. AngelHack’s grand prize winner!
Sherpa: Find local tour guides in different parts of the world with the help of Sinch calling
SwiftSell: Buy and sell on web and mobile securely and interactively using Sinch IM to connect buyers and sellers
Battle Brains II: Chat with your friend in an epic 1-on-1 game of knowledge using Sinch voice calling. Voice calls can even be transcribed if the other player is on mute!
Remindeer: Wear an armband and use gestures to activate dictation for a Sinch SMS when your hands are busy.
Thanks to all of the teams who gave it their all this weekend! We’re really exited for what developers can come up with next time. We hope you are too!
