What Does GDPR Mean for Enterprise Messaging?

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) deadline is approaching fast. It’s already on the horizon, due to arrive with us on the 25th May 2018. This regulation will demand higher standards of security and permissions around customer data. It will ensure that all enterprise processes and databases get kicked into shape, whilst also strengthening and unifying data protection for all individuals within the European Union.

GDPR cannot be ignored, it’s not optional – everyone has to comply – but what does it mean for enterprise messaging? MEF will be holding a webinar to discuss these very issues on the 15th March 2018. Rob Malcolm, VP Marketing & Online Sales at CLX is poised to speak on the panel along with Professor Daniel Solove, GDPR expert from Teachprivacy, Lee Suker, Market Development Director & Data Protection Officer at XConnect and Tim Green, Features Editor at MEF.

This webinar from MEF will open a discussion on how GDPR might affect the enterprise messaging space. All enterprises that come into contact with personal data will require a binding obligation from data processors (messaging providers), that they are GDPR compliant. But it’s not just an issue for enterprises, the wider ‘community’ in the mobile communications space need to be GDPR compliant too – network operators, service providers and the government to name just a few.

Enterprise messaging has a key role to play in GDPR, the ability to capture and enforce customer consent in real time will be a key requirement. This is where good data management and reliable messaging can help to ensure not only compliance with GDPR, but also improved customer experiences.

The webinar will explore the potential opportunities that GDPR could present in the messaging space. Posing the question, that if service providers are successfully managing the requirements of GDPR, is there an opportunity to win new A2P business? Changes being undertaken by MNOs and enterprises to ensure compliance will also be discussed, along with other key issues:
